These pins are a
contemporary adaptation of the
World War II Employer flags
that were used to recognize companies for contributions to
the war effort, and they are presented on display cards that
explain their lineage. The letters address recipients and
Airmen by name. They are intended to communicate to parents,
employers and spouses the importance of their children's,
employee's or spouse's service to the ongoing war on
terrorism, to express sincere gratitude for parents'
continued support, and to convey a sense of partnership
between the Air Force and the parents of America's Airmen.
